So ..... back in February ... a friend of mine dropped off two cats on my doorstep - basically no warning, nothing - just showed up prior to 8am and started knocking on my door (7:30 but I didn't get up until 8am) ... anyway - one of the cats was a kitten (now cat) she took from me from my cat's first litter. The second was a stray that she took in. Well, Rex ran out the door and I tried to get him to come back but every time I got with in five feet of him he would take off. Eventually - I just stopped seeing him. So I'm *hoping* he found a family to adopt and didn't end up as road kill somewhere (sad face)....
The stray however is the most loving cat, my two girls are bitches. They hate everyone and everything and when they want attention it has to be THEIR idea. Autumn more so than Mady. Mady is a little more affectionate.
So we named him Ollie. Oliver Twist. His tail is broken, it's the oddest thing. It like broke and healed at an angle... hence the "twist" part of it.
When we had gotten this unexpected delivery - were had just found a free clinic - a traveling vet van - that do free spay and neutering ... well, we couldn't get them fixed yet because they only do it certain times and it's an hour away (the closest spot to us) ....
Autumn had just been in heat and it stopped ... but as soon as Ollie came into the house - she went back into heat. Trust me - I smacked my head.
So ... one boy, two girls.... they played hard to get ..... but a month later, we noticed it..... they were getting fat. :: sigh::
So based on the DATE he came into the house - the "due date" was yesterday.
I realized Autumn was going to pop any time now when on Wednesday she started to hang around me all the time, and follow me around.... this is her M.O. for pre-labor. She doesn't want to leave my side.
So when I got up this morning and I was filling up the water dish, she comes out, she's not looking so wide, her tail is messed up (wet, dried) ... she's a bit disheveled...
So let the kitten hunt begin!
Well, she didn't have them where I had hoped, she kept going into the kids bedroom and sitting on the bookshelf so that narrowed down the room ... all three of them were still sleeping, so I'm searching around them, on the beds, under the bed, in the nooks and crannies.... looked in toy boxes, in hampers, under the train/car table, behind the door.... can't find them.
So I leave for a little bit.
Awhile later once I'm sure she's sure I am not looking anymore (but she was following me around and she usually wants her "den" by me) ... anyway - so I get up and I stand in the boys room and start making cat sounds.
After a minute....
She pops out her head.......
From Noah's dresser drawer!
Yep, didn't check there.... dur....
So I look in there, and see this .....
Awwwwwwww .... four babies. She was HUGE and I'm thinking "only four?" ...
Well so I snap another photo....
I didn't notice it until I started moving the kittens, that there are actually FIVE. You can see the fifth one peeking out a bit in the pic above, but it wasn't until I started to pick them up that I found the fifth one. Two orange, a dark tortie looking one, a white one, and .... a calico just like her Momma.
Before I moved them, I went in my room and my husband was still half asleep, and I said to him "I think one of the kitten's is Max's."
This is Max - the white one.... (and Marnie)
He's a dog. Incase you didn't realize.
DB says "They all should be Max's" ........
Um......... he's OBVIOUSLY still half asleep....
so then it dawns on him....... wait for it, wait for it......
"Wait, why is one Max's?"
"Look" I said and showed him the pic I took on my phone.
He says .... "oooooooooooh, the white one" ... ha ha ha ha
Took him a minute, but he got it.
Note to self, don't make jokes when he's half asleep.
Now we are waiting for Mady to have her kittens. We worry about her. This is her first.
Kitten weight - don't have genders or names yet - other than the white one. That one is Marshmellow. We are thinking of Morris and Garfield if the orange ones are boys ....
White - 2.8oz
Calico - 1.9oz (runt)
Dark Tortie looking one - 3.3oz
Orange 1 - 2.9oz
Orange 2 - 3.5oz
I can't tell the orange ones apart at the moment, BUT I think Orange 2 has more white.
We'll see....

10 PM Update:
So we went to Nathan's Pinewood Derby today. I had gotten all the kittens moved into the nesting box. I had checked Autumn's belly a few times and still felt a little big to me, but it was soft enough I didn't think much about it. I thought *maybe* there might be one or two more in there, but doubted it.
So we went to the derby (HE WON!) ... and came home. Noah wanted a bath so when he finished he went to go get PJ's on.... he's in his room and all of a sudden rushes into my room (I was editing pictures.) He shouts....
THERE IS ANOTHER KITTEN!!!!
So I jump up and follow him, he heard crying and started looking but couldn't find it, so I found it wrapped up in his brown shirt that she had them on, in his drawer, and it was sooooo cold the poor thing. It had obviously been there a good long while. I swear I checked the shirts before I moved them all this morning and didn't feel anymore, but it's possible that I missed one.... I guess :/ And then I had gone in there later and shut the drawer.
So we went from four kittens to finding the Calico under all of the other ones, to having six kittens because one was mysteriously lost.
And more are coming! Oye...
So - I pulled them out a little while ago to re-weigh them so I could get a weight on the newest kitten (another white one, we named her Sugar) ... and so we can keep a good eye on them. So ... the weights on the picture are the PM weights.
