Teenage Priceless-ness ....

Tomorrow morning I get to drag the Moody Teen to his Highschool ...

It's KNIGHT Information Night ...

We get to ...
  • Pick up Class Schedule
  • Purchase ASB Card and/or Yearbook
  • Take School Pictures
  • Check-out Textbooks (Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors)
  • Access School Lockers
Doesn't that sound like fun????

I got to print off the Yearbook form and the Pictures form....   and I'm going through them....  and I'm thinking...

$25 for eating during Last Summer Hurrah with his friend Alex ....
$35 for Student ID (allowing him into all school games free & discount at school functions)
$41 for Student Photos
$68 for Pre-Order of Yearbook
Teenager, Attitude and ALL ....... PRICELESS ....

::: Looks around ::::

Yeah......... maybe......

I had this conversation with the teen ....

"CALAHAN!?!?!"

"WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAT!?!?!"

Looking at the list... "What is an ASB Card?"

"I don't know"

"COME HERE!"

comes grudgingly into my room  "What?"

"What is an ASB Card?"

"I don't know!"

"GAWD," so I go back on the highschool website and open up the PDF file of the Parent/Student Handbook.....  and I read it off....
ASB CARDS
All students must have a current BHS ID or ASB card. ID cards are issued free to every student. BHS students need a current ID card to ride the bus and purchase tickets to be admitted to school dances. An ASB sticker may be purchased for $35, which entitles students to reduced prices for school activities and free admission to home athletic events. Participants in music, sports, drill team, cheer, and Knowledge Bowl are required to purchase ASB cards. Students are encouraged to support their Knights by purchasing an ASB sticker. A $3 fee will be charged to students for replacement ID/ASB cards.

"Oh" he says....

"Well?"

"Well what??"

It's like pulling teeth.  "If you aren't interested in attending any school functions or getting into games for free, then I'm not going to get it."

He's laying on my bed with his arm over his eyes....  "Games?"

"Football games, Soccer games, Baseball games," I start listing stuff off....

"Football games," he says matter-of-factually  ....

"Well if you aren't going to go, then I'm not going to pay for it because it'll be a waste of money."  He is totally interested in getting into sports but his grades aren't good enough right now.  So if he ever WERE going to get into sports, then he would need it ...

"I'll go," he said smiling.

"Are you sure?"  I asked.  "Maybe Alex would be interested in going?"

"Maybe," he goes.

"Cheerleaders," I whispered ...

"MOM!" he yells, his face is all red....

I just want him to enjoy highschool, and since he's at a school he loves, has friends now ... it's a huge thing... I'm hoping this year he'll pull his grades up and just maybe he can try out for some sports teams!

In the mean time, I'm going to tell him to join some clubs...  I told Dennis, I loved it, it was fun...

Dennis said "For you maybe, not for him....."

I retorted: "Maybe there is a W.O.W. team .... or he could start one!" and then we both laughed....

Dennis said "Yeah, just a bunch of boys hanging out talking about World of Warcraft....

Realized today ....  he's ...

104.... it's not a nice number ... x2 ...

He is STILL running a high fever ....

We went to the DR on Saturday - to Urgent Care - and  basically we went in there with him feeling poor and not having much of a temp (100.5 with the forehead thing) ...  as we were there (over 2 hours) he got worse...  the DR came in initially and checked his belly and his lungs and heart and then his ears and throat ... he said everything looked good ... so he wanted to check his blood work... when the blood work came back he said "Good news" ... and went on to say that all the blood work was GOOD other then the one thing that was elevated was the Lymphocytes (Thanks Dad!) - which is an indicator that he has a viral infection.  So he basically sent us on our way with "If he is still running this high temp on Monday, take him in to his Ped" ... oye...

We got home and Kaedyn and I both crashed (we'd both been up a lot the night before)  When we woke up, he was burning up ...

This was under the arm, so - rule of thumb - add a degree and .... 105.3 ......... makes me want to throw up
He was MISERABLE ..... luckily we can get the temp down but not usually under 100 ...  but he'll get up and act pretty "normal" for him...

So ....... another day of extremely high temps.......  this morning, after another LONG night, where every time we put him to bed he would be back in our room and demand I hold him - so I ended up holding him....all... night...long.....

Seriously - it's hot in the apartment .... and to hold a burning hot baby all night .... NOT ... COMFORTABLE...

Besides that, I would of course do anything for my kids.... so I did... hold him, all ... night....

This morning...  we TOTALLY thought that he broke it ...

No.... such ......... luck........

So ...... back out with the arsenal of things to keep him comfortable...
Dr. also told us to bring him back if things changed ...  well, he developed a cough last night ... his right eye, the inside corner is pink (can you see in this pictures below) ...  and he almost threw up last night, and then did throw up when he had a bite of Daddy's cereal this morning ... but with the tylonel and ibuprofin ... he acts himself...  so we figured we'd see what the day and the evening held... and keeping the meds on board, he's been clingy, whiny, crabby and fine...
This is what we call Monkey Juice...  it's Pedialyte in his monkey juice bottle...  LOL...  he LOVES it...

104 .... it's not a good number...

I donno what is with my boys and their phantom fevers ...  no other symptoms just 103... 104 ... temps.

Last week it was Nathan ...   when we took him in because it had been to long - they said he had Bronchitis and gave him some antibiotics ... his lungs were sounding gunky :(  What's funny is that he was seen the day before for a general appointment, and they listened to his chest and stuff, said everything was fine...
Mr. Nathan - miserable - a few days ago ....  he's been super crabby since....

Now...  Mr. Kaedyn is miserable....   Yesterday ... his temp spiked to 102.5 ... not to bad... but... still, worrisome...  started the ibuprofen & tylonel regiment ... fun times ...

 He loves his Pandy ....
Mom, stop taking pictures of me, I don't feel good ...

His skin is so hot ...  and his breathing is super rapid .... he complains about a headache...  probably all due to his fever....

Today, I was hoping he was better ... but no luck..... but late this afternoon, he was a bit lethargic and his temp spiked at it's highest....
 He's so miserable...
YIKES!!  That's under the arm.....

Today, we've been doing ibuprofen, tylonel and baths ...   right now, at about 10:30pm ... he seems to be okay, still low temp...  he's not hot.....  Nana brought over some Pedialyte ... he's been enjoying that.. she even found some Pedialyte Popsicles... and he looooooooves popsicles...

I'm really hoping it breaks, because I was told by the nurse line that if he is still feverish tomorrow, he needs to go in ...   I know how he hates doctors, and I'm hoping that he'll be fine....

The Trojan Man paid me a visit ...

NOT THIS Trojan Man....

This one ...
He visited my computer ........ which means............. VIRUS!!!
What happened ... you might ask.   I am involved with this Twitter Party called Comment Hour ... and by no means should what happened reflect on this amazing function COMMENT HOUR HAS BEEN ATTACKED! ...(had to take down the button too :(  But when it's back up - CHECK IT OUT!)   but, this amazing Twitter Party happens Wednesday nights, a bunch of people gather on twitter for an hour, and 25 random blogs from the people who signed up are featured... it's a great time! ...  I signed up for it this week, looking forward to it ... and fully expecting to make it... but things got crazy, Kaedyn wasn't feeling well ... Nathan was in such a crabby mood...  and things just weren't going well that night and by the time I realized it, it was 8 o'clock and I had a few "twitter mention" alerts in my email.  Knowing what this meant, I got all excited!!

I GOT FEATURED!!! LOOOOOOOOOOOVE IT ....

So I quickly flipped to my Tweetdeck and was looking at the mentions and looked for the link to the list from that night.  When I found it, I noticed a few tweets about some of my fellow Comment Hour Girls getting a "Malware" Warnings.  I'm thinking ... okay ..... and sure enough, I click it and get the same warning ... I'm thinking ...... WHAT??? .... I've been here before, I know it's a safe site...   so I power through...

BIG MISTAKE ...

Did I mention??? BIG MISTAKE????  ....  with in a few minutes I got one of those stupid "you have a virus, you must buy me to get rid of it" crap ... whined to my husband, he finally got it to go away and said "I'll get rid of it tomorrow, just DON'T SHUT IT DOWN" ...  I'm thinking - that's fine - I won't....

Ten Seconds Later ........

IT WAS SHUTTING DOWN ITSELF .........

Yep ...... I was clearly screwed...

I tried to save it, but ....... no luck...
Stupid Trojan Man was laughing at me ......... LAUGHING at me........

UGH!!!

I didn't touch my laptop for the rest of the night ....

Following morning, we opened my laptop...... EVERYTHING was gone....  all my icons were gone, programs such as my SIMS and TWEETDECK ... and ZOO TYCOON ... were GONE, Uninstalled, Deleted....  My books that I have written, gone....   my pictures........ GONE........ all my blog graphics ... GONE ...... E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G. .. GONE ...
So Dennis started getting to work ...  after awhile, he declared that he didn't think he could get anything back.  I started to moron my loss.  A year's worth of pictures..... 13 chapters of a book I didn't have anywhere else, the beginnings of another book that came to me......... I was going to cry .... but there was still hope because according to the data on the laptop, it was OBVIOUSLY still there somewhere....

My screen even went SIDEWAYS at one point .......

Don't adjust your screens........ that is what was wrong with mine!!

I told Dennis, I obviously had STUPID written on my forehead....  Took a picture to prove it too!

and by luck, Dennis finally found the stuff - all hidden and moved .... but thank goodness!!  I immediately got to work on transferring and saving what I wanted to save and keep on the laptop ....took all day yesterday ...

This morning ... we got to work at wiping my computer of everything, and restoring it ...  now I'm slowly getting all my programs back on it....

all graphics other then the last 3 pictures were found on google images ....

Trip to the Zoo: The End of our Adventure

If you haven't already seen the other blogs of our adventure day at the zoo, there are some really awesome photos ... if I do say so myself! ...  and you can see the beginning of our adventure in PART ONE about the Penguins, then there is PART TWO with the Dinosaurs... yes, that's right, Dinosaurs at the Zoo!  LOL.... and PART THREE is Tigers & Birds & Bears! Oh My!!

This part of our journey through the WOODLAND PARK ZOO in Seattle starts off in the Meerkat house!  There is Noah .... a day from having surgery on his broken nose! (And we wouldn't have gone had he not been feeling fine.  The kid is AMAZING ... he broke his nose really bad, but NEVER got raccoon eyes, every time I asked him if he was hurting he would tell me no, and he never acted in pain either - even AFTER the surgery.)
Here is Nathan ....
Kaedyn went inside and sat down, and posed...  (snickering...)
Here are the REAL Meerkats ...  not just my Meerkats....
WHO ARE YOU LOOKING AT???
 A couple of Two-Toed Sloths ...
 Komodo Dragons ...
Never realized how HUGE these guys are ...
He's in the back of his habitat with Kaedyn watching ...
Noah next to a Komodo Dragon Egg ...
Kaedyn and Noah on a life sized sculpture of a Kamodo Dragon ...

Here we were in an African style school - My Mom is in the blue shirt, Dennis is right beside her, Nathan is in the front seat of the stroller, and Noah is on the bench (green shirt) next to Kaedyn (red shirt) ....
Here is Calahan ....  when I posted these on Facebook ...  my friend commented "HE DOES EXSIST!" Lololol... it cracked me up!
I love Giraffes ...  I just think they are glorious ...  here is one eating from a feed bag in the tree...
I just thought this one below was such a unique shot!
HIPPOS!!!!
We stopped at one of the food stands and it had these wonderful wooden animal sculptures ...
The Elephant was being shy....hiding behind all the ropes...
We found the Lioness but never found the Majestic Lion...
By this time, when had been through about 65% of the zoo and Nathan just express that he had ENOUGH of the Zoo....  so we didn't get to see any of the monkeys or anything ... but on our way out, we decided to see the pink birds, and the older two boys and I ran into a Rainforest type Habitat ...

The Pink Birds (thought Nathan would just LOVE these, but he didn't really care because he had enough) ...  AKA: Flamingos...
Here are the Turtles ....
And I found my Colorful Frogs but I couldn't get a good picture thanks to the finger printed glass ...  next time, I think I am going to bring some Windex ...
And of course, it wouldn't truly be a Zoo trip without at least one great floral shot...

And now I'll stop boring you with pictures of the Zoo...  lol...
