The Humane Association here has a low-cost spay and neuter clinic every last Tuesday of the month. They also offer to chip them for cheap, give them a flea treatment, and to give them shots... so we did it all.
We Marshmellow ended up being put in the pink cage because the brown one had duct tape on it to make sure it stayed together and Alyvia is lighter than Mellow.
So we had gotten up around 5am. I think I slept very little. We had to stop to get some cash, and then we went to the Humane Society and found there was a line. We didn't realize there would be a line but of course, with anything like this - there always is.
So the first picture (left side) above - is the line in front of us when we first got there. However the biggest reason I took the picture was because of the HUGE ASS pet carrier up closer to the door. Now, there were so rules going into this ..
There was a paper to fill out (check!) ... the cats couldn't eat after midnight the night before (check!) ... each animal had to be in their own pet carrier (check!) ... and they only take the first 50 cats for the day (because that's all they can do.) ...
So we were in line until about 8-8:30 (they open at 7) and we checked them in. We were only planning on doing Mellow, but decided to go ahead and do Livvy too because she was showing signs of going into heat. So we figured we'd just get them both done in one shot.
So we got there, stood in line in the cold for awhile, got them admitted. Did the paperwork.... Marshmellow had peed or sprayed prior to getting out of the van so him AND the carrier stunk. I kept apologizing, lol... Mellow and Livvy were numbers 28 and 29 and that line was very long behind us - so we know not all of them got taken :( ... but we paid and left. Our pick up time was between 2 and 2:30 but we had doctors appointments around those times, so we asked if we could pick them up a little late. They said sure, as long as we were there before 5pm.
So we did our thing .. I had a dr appt ...
Then we had to go pick up Noah, Calahan, and the boys... Nathan had a DR appt, Noah had an eye appointment ... (pic is me, dur ... and Noah, and Cal in the way back)
So DB dropped Nathan and I off for his DR appt while he ran a few errands before Noah's eye appt. So Nathan and I got in there.... and he was giving me bubble faces from the other side of the fish tank....
And then Nathan was making faces in the small mirror as he was using his chewy.
Regardless though, he was 45lbs ... hasn't gained any weight really. I had to talk to his doctor about his constant tummy aches going on. So I was telling him what's going on and he thinks that Nathan is constipated and backed up again. So he wants me to treat him that way, and see if that helps. He says he shouldn't be having hard poops and since he is, that we need to increase his miralax.
We were done a lot faster then I expected ... so we just walked over to the office where Noah's appointment was at (all the boys share an eye doctor) ... we waited downstairs since Daddy and the rest of the crew wasn't there and Nathan wasn't too happy.
But I started doing some snapchat with him. He cheered up with that....
Dad and the rest of the boys showed up - so we went upstairs....
Thing 1 and Thing 2 were already being crazy when we got into the office for the eye clinic. I tried to get them to go into the room to watch the movie that was on, but that wasn't gonna happen. So Nathan was tasked with parking his butt and staying there and Kaedyn was rolling on the floor and throwing his stuffie dog around (Sam) and yeah - he was just being crazy. So Sam got to stay with me. And when I took Noah back when it was his turn... Sam got to come with! ...
Good news was that Noah's eye pressure in his eye had been 28/34 previously, and now it was 18/19 ... He said it's a lot better than the last time - it's still not "good" ... but he's happy with it for right now and wants to see him back again in about 4 months.
So we went and got the cats ... we got in there and there was a pretty big line, six people ahead of us. There was a girl who had brought in four guinea pigs just before we got there. She found them on the side of the road, in a box. They were all adults, two girls, two boys. Don't know how long they were there, but long enough for them to become completely food aggressive and fight for food when they got some. The dominate male was chasing the other one around like crazy pulling his hair out ..
The lady who was ahead of us... one of the vet (techs?) asked if her cat was really hostel? and she says No, never. She says, I've never even heard him growl! and she was told "well you will now" and boy oh boy was he an angry boy - he was non-stop growling.
They went back to get Marshmellow and Alyvia... and they couldn't seem to pronounce Alyvia. She was like "We were trying to figure out how to say it" ... I'm all... they are joking right? That spelling is not an uncommon thing. I said "she is A-liv-e-ah not Oh-liv-e-ah." But we got them home and they were happy to be home, that's for sure.
We found out they have worms - tape worm to be exact. I guess they get tape worm by eating a flea with tape worms ... they have to ingest it in order to get it. They can't get it from being around another cat with it. So yeah...... odd.
It's been a rough night trying to keep the cats from licking. But they are both doing well.
Today marks the one month birthday of our baby Jackson. My little nephew gained his wings a month ago. In one way it seems like so long ago, in another it was just yesterday. I am so proud of his Momma though, she is working her way through her grief, and I just have to say that I'm proud of her.
