I got a New Award :D

Thank you to Shona at A PGD Blog ... for this awesome new award   :)   I love knowing that people read and like my blog :D

Here are the rules for the acceptance of the award:
1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you the award.
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Award 15 other bloggers.
4. Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award.

 So 7 thinks about me..........

1:  I am a wife, and a mother of 4 boys.  I have a step-daughter, also, however that's a long drawn out story.  We always recognize her in the family, even if she isn't with us, she is in our hearts.  I wish the case were different, but it's not and we can't afford to change it at the moment.  Anyway ...  I have a 15 year old, I found out I was pregnant at 18 and had him when I was 19.  I suffered through 5 years of secondary infertility, and then finally got pregnant with a baby that stuck, that was my Noah who is about to turn 9.  After more infertility, I divorced their dad and ended up meeting my husband.  Then we got pregnant pretty easily and ended up having Nathan, who will be 4 in April, and then got pregnant with Kaedyn who is almost 2 1/2....   In between all those kids, starting with my oldest who was a twin, I have had 14 miscarriages.   It has been a struggle not to GET pregnant, but to stay pregnant.  It was my last miscarriage with my ex husband that my OB discovered I need to take progesterone in  order to stay pregnant.  We are done now....
(Artwork by Noah - age 8 - His Family... before ya think Daddy has a Beehive, that's suppose to be his ball cap, I look like a Koala, and I have no idea why Cal is so small!)

2: Out of my 4 boys, I had two preemies, and two very unique babies.  I had rather difficult pregnancies with all of them, but Calahan was over due, and Kaedyn was just a week early but healthy as can be.  Noah and Nathan on the other hand, well....  they were born unique.  I don't talk about medical stuff going on in this blog so much, cuz this is MY outlet.  Might sound a bit selfish, but I would rather have all their updates and stuff in one place.  Sometimes, it does overlap.  Big moments, new diagnosis.... needing prayers for them.  But for the most part, I keep a lot of that stuff over at My Unique Flowers, which is about everything going on with the kids medical wise ...  Anyway ...   While I was pregnant with Noah, I learned he has a rare genetic disorder called Mosaic Trisomy 16.  I was told he would die, I was told he would have no quality of life....  however, that's not what happened.  He is a (pretty) healthy little boy who turns 9 years old on Tuesday.   You really wouldn't know there was anything wrong with him, other then maybe his size, unless I sat there and pointed things out to you.  His head is really big, and flat in the back, his ears are lower, he has one leg longer then the other by just a few millimeters, but it's starting to get noticeable, he is in 3rd grade but only at a 1st grade level.... he has kidney issues...  and various other things... but you wouldn't know it looking at him.  He was 1lb 12oz when he was born .... I was afraid to touch him when he was born...... It didn't take me long to get over that....  he came home only weighting 3lbs 4oz ...

(day after he was born, he came off the vent after only 40 hours, and stayed off)
His hands, and his feet....
With Nathan, it was a huge shock, Noah's condition was suppose to be like getting struck by lightning.  So when his pregnancy was going so much like Noah's, I got scared.  However, Nathan's issues ended up being completely different then Noah's.  Nathan has a cyst in his cerebellum, he is missing some of his vermis (part of his cerebellum) ... he has a closed cleft palate, a type of dwarfism, and is autistic... plus a lot of other things.  The Doctors didn't dare say anything about him not making it, about maybe I should terminate, like they did with Noah.  They knew, I just wasn't going to.  He was 3lbs 4oz when he was born....   he came home under 5lbs also.

In the NICU
Calahan and Noah looking in on Nathan - the NICU actually asked to be able to use this picture in future publications ....
After Nathan came home.... he just didn't grow...  he was gaining about one ounce a week.  Not good... but he is almost 4 now and doing better.  He's still a peanut (cuz of his dwarfism disorder) ... but we are a little better aware of what is going on with him.
Two preemies, same NICU...  they were put in the same spot in the NICU even...  I love that NICU, and the staff.  I hope to someday, do some preemie photography for parents so they can remember their babies.

3:  I am a writer.  I have a few books I've finished, short stories, tons of poems, but I have about 7 books I'm working on... book 2 to one book that I already finished, and several other books.   I just wrote about my writing in this blog post ...  Kidnapper's Cove ...  which is the book I want to finish first.  But why is it that I can write one book and come up with five more plots!!  UGH!  And of course you gotta start working on it before it escapes.....  makes for a very confusing process.

4: I am a photographer......... I had started my own business before moving from Wisconsin, but have to get things together here before I can start up again (if I decide to) .... but I love taking pictures.  I call myself "Mammarazzi" .... I say "My kids think my face is a camera lens and are blinded by the flash" LOL...

5:  I am a TV addict... I looooooooooove watching my shows.   All time FAVORITE shows....  Gilmore Girls, X-Files, and Castle....  top 3 hands down.   I also love Greek, Secret Life of an American Teen, Make It Or Break It... I was a die hard ER fan, and now I'm trying to catch up on past seasons of Greys Anatomy - cuz, being that I live on the other side of the Sound from Seattle, I figure...  I have to, plus, I'm all into it now....  and I'm a train-wreck tv...er... Reality TV ...  Big Brother, Survivor, the Bachelor, Hells Kitchen, Top Chef, American Idol, etc and so on and on and on ...  lol....  LOOOOOOOOOOVE IT........

6:  It took me 4 tries, but I finally got my "mini-me" child!!

7:  Last but not least............ I guess that I'll share that after my divorce, I thought that I would never find a man who could take on me, plus two boys ... especially with one of those boys having medical issues.  I dated one guy seriously, but that didn't work out ... and then a few guys not seriously ...  then tried another relationship but that was a crock.... after that I just kinda gave up.  Figured I would date, have fun, not bring these guys around my kids at all ....... and just be a Mom, and be me.  Then, I got "winked" at by this guy in North Carolina on a free online dating site....  so I emailed him back and said thanks for the wink....  he emailed me back, we chatted in emails and then through IM....  just figured this guy could be a friend....  but it turned into a lot more..... cuz now, I married him and he truly is my soul mate.  Who would have thought a "wink" would be the entry way to a wonderful family?  I never expected it, but I'm sure glad it happened!!

Here are the 15 Bloggers that I'm recognizing!!  (in Random Order)

1:  Lauren at The Real Reality

It's AWARD Day!!!

It’s AWARD DAY!!!  Well it is for 44 of you... er... ALL OF YOU!! Yay!!!  I looooooooooooove to get awards and pass them along, but then again I hate it because I feel like I’m not honoring a lot of people.  I have so many blogs that I love, that I have a hard time picking someone.  I honestly want to award all of the blogs I read with something :)   and who knows, maybe someday I will!  LOL…   Here are 4 awards I got back in January that I never got the chance to pass along.  I had it half done and then my computer crashed that day, losing it all – so then I got frustrated … then the migraine happened, and life ran away with me again!   But as promised (and instructed) I am passing them along!!  Some are new blogs (to me) ... a lot of blogging friends ... and a few people who I would really love to give honor to...

Feel The Lemonade ... along with this and that....

If you are stopping by from ICLW please click here for my December Welcome!

So ... this is a later night post, and it's because my kids are settling down for the night, Nathan passed out on the couch, Kaedyn is going to be ready to crash after he has dinner (currently setting & cooling down on the stove, cheesy pasta and veggies, nummers!)...  Cal is doing what he normally does, playing games between helping me out... and Noah is back and forth and in and out and all over the place, cuz that's who he is.  He's so sassy it's funny (most the time) ...  He's starving to death right now and waiting a few more minutes of dinner is NOT acceptable. Absolutely NOT.

Whatever small fry, you aren't getting that cookie you keep trying to talk me into!

So I have finished going through all my *old* favorites, adding them back to my blog roll, grabbing buttons, all that fun stuff.  I have done the first 20 blogs on the ICLW list - yay me!!!  And I have gone through all my notes from the past week month!  I even found an AWARD that I didn't even know I had!  I don't remember ever seeing the email (from the note) for it!  It was a very very pleasant surprise!  (Will be awarded at the end of this) ...

I may not have noted everyone, or followed everyone.  I'm feeling awful loved right now because I have a lot of new followers and notes and it's a little overwhelming, but I will so get use to it!  Keep those notes coming! LOL... Please?  (puppy dog eyes?)  I promise to try to do better!!

So today has been a LONG day.  It started this morning when Kaedyn got up at 6am ... so not his normal.  But we got about an hour and a half of Mommy & Bubby time before Nathan got up. Nathan got up and I had to turn the TV to cartoons or suffer the wrath of not sticking to the schedule.  I only saw this blurb on GMA about Brittany Murphy.  Still makes me sad.  We had breakfast (Cookie Crisp and Banana) and I skipped taking my glucose this morning.  Bad me.  Even worse, I'm going to call and reschedule my appt tomorrow because I'm not going to be able to make it.  Gas is a bit of a commodity at the moment, and I need to take Dennis into work Christmas Eve (or maybe I'll just go out after he gets home, donno) ...  Anyway... he called me this morning after he got to work, told me they were letting him get up to 8 hours over time, he was already scheduled almost 40 hours.. so he's working until almost 10 tonight, and almost 10 tomorrow.  He gets Christmas Day off, and then has to go back to work Friday and Saturday (I think?) ...  Anyway.....  We just had a lazy day with the kids ... the kids had hot dogs and fruit for lunch, I had Lean Cuisine ... and we just had dinner.  (yeah it takes me awhile to type up posts) ..

So anyway ........ time to share my NEW AWARD!  YAY!!!

A HUGE Thanks to Kat's Confessions for awarding it to me!!!  She is a new blog to me but I think she's pretty cool so check her out!!

The rules for this award:

- Put the Lemonade logo on your blog or within your post.
- Nominate at least 10 blogs with great attitude or gratitude.
- Link the nominees within your post.
- Let the nominees know they have received this award by commenting on their blog.
- Share the love and link to the person from whom you received this award.

So to the 10 that I want to share the Lemonade Love with....... a combination of new and old that I love to read  :)

A Day full of Needles: Ramble... and an Award!

Let me start out with the awesome new award I got from Shelly at Attic Girl  ... Thank you so much Shelly for thinking of me!

With this award, I am to be honest about 10 things in my life:

1:  I always wanted a little girl, didn't care how many kids I had or how many were boys as long as I got ONE girl.... but I got all boys (and a step-daughter I've never met)

2: I hope to foster kids someday down the road.   I think I'd be good at it.

3:  I love Ghost shows (Ghost Hunters, Ghost Adventures, The Haunting, etc)

4:  I met my husband online

5: I never drank until I was 29 years old.  My friends tried and tried and I'd have sips of stuff but - never liked it.  Then after separating from my ex-husband, I dated a bartender for a brief time and for the first time in my life - drank.  It lasted about 6 months, and I haven't drank since ... Dennis and I drink the Welch's non-alcoholic champagne, that's about it...

6: I got sick when I was 16, in Highschool with an auto-immune disorder. It still effects me now.

7:  My lucky number is 13.  It's followed me all my life.  I have 13 letters in my full name, I ended up giving all my kids 13 letters in their first and middle name - first 2 were completely un-planned, 2nd two were planned because I realized I had done it with the first 2.  Dennis has 13 letters in his first and middle name.  I could go on and on and on but I won't.  It's just my lucky number and that's that.

8:  I look at the clock all the time at 12:12 am.  What does that mean?  "12:12," I would say.  "Witching hour." Then I would watch until it turned 12:13 am and I would say "12:13, next best thing."   Dennis thinks I died at 12:12 in a previous life and that I have to watch until it turns 12:13 so I know I'll live another day.

9:  My Grandma was psychic and so am I ... lol..  but I don't let it out much, I fight it to much.  Don't believe me, I have many many stories with in my life ... ones that have been witnessed.

10:  I am very honest about my feelings and writing (blogging) is my therapy.  Just because I feel something one day, one way, doesn't mean it won't change later on because I am just spewing feelings I need to release and work through.  Sometimes by doing so, I see the other side and realize that I'm wrong, or that I'm not thinking around it right.

And now to reward it to others ...  I decided to go with some new blogs that I really like - because I honestly thought they could use some blogging community LOVE!!

1: Kimberly at The rantings of a Drama Queens Mum ~ I have a drama king, does that count? LOL
2: WeloveTucker at Stay Home and Play
3: Christie at Baby Tea Leaves
4: Lindsay from Once Upon a Mommy
5: April from Southern Sass

Before I forget, I totally changed my blog around and lost everything on my sides ... oye!  So I have to go around and collect buttons for those I enjoy reading!!  I hope that if you enjoy reading my blog, you grab my button!  But I'll be working on getting buttons here this weekend since it's so cold I don't think we are leaving the house!

I've been having some trouble writing lately.  I am in this spot in a new book I'm working on where I am just ..... S-T-U-C-K ........ and I'm not sure where to go.  I wish I had more time to write, but I am enjoying the time with my kids right now too.  I can't complain.  Maybe I'll have some more time to devote to it soon.

It seems to be a pretty good book so far.  Who knows.  Dennis really wants me to try get publish something.  I'm mighty afraid to.  I really am.  It's one thing to write for me, for the enjoyment of it, to share with friends, but now it's like....... I donno.  I don't write well under dead-lines.  LOL

I've been missing my family - and when I say that, I mean that I've become extremely nostalgic of the fact that when I grew up, I was surrounded by extended family and I miss that.  I wish I had a big enough place to invite the family who lives around here, but I don't.  No one bothers to have a "Day" family Christmas to catch up and such.  Sure, we get together once in awhile when other family comes to town, or just cuz, but I wish we did something for the holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas - regardless.  See, I grew up in a HUGE family.  I might be an only child for my Mom, and the middle child for my Dad, but I have 2 step-parents also, that I love.  They are all out in Washington state.  Our kids are the only grandkids that my Dad & Step-Mom currently have and my Mom and Step-Dad too.  So, it's hard.  I wish I could be with them all for the holidays.  I wish we could go there, and see them.  Let them spend time with the grandkids.  It doesn't seem fair.  Dennis' family are in North Carolina.  We want to move by family.  My MIL has other grandkids, some who live right by her.  I am being pulled, very strongly, to move to Washington.  I know their Grandparents would LOVE to have the kids around.  I'm tired of not having those crazy boisterous family gathering that drive one to drink and start smoking because of the craziness.   It's hard.   I asked Dennis where his gut told us to move, he said New Mexico.  LOL...  I could see visiting there, but not moving.  We do want to get down and see his family in the spring, and move sometime after that - when, I don't know.  I think it's time.

So since having Kaedyn, since Dennis started culinary school, since I had my surgery - I have been slacking on myself.  Since my surgery specifically, I have been gaining more weight then I did during Kaedyn's pregnancy.  I ended up getting Gestational Diabetes with Kaed and after it went away.  I have been keeping an eye on my blood sugars periodically.  They have been normal.  Well, up to a few weeks ago.  One day I was sitting at my desk, talking to Dennis on IM while he was at school and I was feeling really sick.  Headache, feeling dizzy while sitting down, and various other things.  Dennis told me to check my sugar and it was a little while after I had eaten, and it was 262 (or somewhere up there) ...  scared me, I had NEVER seen it that high, not even while I was pregnant.  So I have been monitoring it and it hasn't gone down.  I called my regular physician and made an appointment - which is next week.  Today I had my blood panel.  Blood sugars, thyroid, cholesterol... etc.  My fasting blood sugar that I took this morning on my monitor was 303.  (I think it's calibrated wrong)  My blood test it was in the 180's . So yeah, according to my OBGYN who I saw today said that puts me in the Diabetic category.  I asked him to look up the test results.  The rest of my test results were great.  My good cholesterol is great, my bad cholesterol is very low (in fact it's lower then "normal") .. my thyroid is good, my white blood cells and such were good.  So, I really have to work on losing weight and getting both my High Blood Pressure and my Diabetes under control and GONE.  (at least I hope gone)...  so whole at my OBGYN for my "yearly" he told me I was overdue for my tetanus shot.  Yay... so they were nice to harpoon me there after I had already gotten jabbed by the vampires this morning.   I told Dr B he was mean and he laughed.  He said "Look at it this way, they took out earlier, and now we're putting back in."  LOL

Yes, I am TOTALLY a Reality TV addict.  I was happy with who won Amazing Race, I cannot WAIT to see Jake on The Bachelor and when American Idol starts - YAY!  But Ellen replacing Paula?  Hummm.. (don't get me wrong, I love Ellen, I think she's a funny funny woman) ... I am watching the Teen Mom series on MTV because I caught a marathon of 16 and Pregnant and got addicted.  I watch the Kardashians (and am not to afraid to admit I had to look that up to spell it!) ...  I watch Tori & Dean when it's on, The Hills, The City, and so much other junk that Dennis goes "hummmmm" when I watch!   He says it rots my brain!  Train Wreck TV Is AWESOME ..... I tell him it's because I am studying human nature for my books!  After all, not everyone can act like ME!  LOL  ...  But I have to mention Survivor for a moment....  Russell, I just don't know about that guy!   And that's my blurb on reality TV for the night.

Anyway ... this isn't the entry I was *planning* on writing. I was going to show off my new award that Angie so kindly awarded me with.... (THANK YOU ANGIE!!) ... and then choosing my victims blogging buds that I want to award it to (Angie would so be one of them, but since she just got one...) ... She runs My Four Monkey Reviews & Giveaways blog too. Anyway - thanks again Angie...

Anyway ... anyway... anyway... I got a really disturbing text this morning - Dennis was making lobster at school today - they were just prepping and the toxins particles floating in the air happy as clams... and he started to have an allergic reaction. He hadn't eaten any and he knew he was allergic to shrimp because of the iodine in it (yes he's allergic to iodine) and didn't know what other shell fish he was allergic to... he can sample but not eat - if that makes sense.

There are levels to allergic reactions... or food sensitivities ... I am allergic to 90% of fruits and some veg (depending) ... I am allergic to pretty much every fruit and it's scary. My biggest one being Apples. I swell up, my throat swells, it's fun - pretty - and I start making these hacking spewing noises cuz my mouth and throat itch and the only way I can get any relief is if I make these monster horrible noises. That is only sampling it.. like taking one bite. It may not happen right away, it can take up to a half hour for the allergic reaction to hit. Now, imagine if I ate some awesome salad that I loved, and ended up eating a whole bunch of it that I didn't know about it being in there... yeah ... Hello Dr. McDreamy!

We didn't know he was allregic to lobster - had NO clue.. knew there was a possibility - but had NO clue!

So he texts me and he says ....he's having an allergic reaction, he had to leave the classroom.

He kept telling me he was okay in text messages and not to worry - and then he called me, and OMG - my heart dropped when I heard his voice. I knew he needed to go in, and I was hoping all he would need was benedryl but worried he'd need epi! Well, he got off the phone with me and I started crying.

I know how allergic reactions are and it was bad...

So he calls me a little while later and says he's on his way to the hospital - he got directions from the school, one of his friends had offered to drive him, but he said no (stupid stubborn son of a ...) ... and you can just tell he's worse. I could anyway. He's like "I can still see fine, I can get air in.." .. I'm like fuck that, I'm worried .. I said "yeah but I'm worried about you in the time it's going to take you to get there" ... well he got there, amazingly ... and he's getting an epi and benedryl. GAH... and he's 2 hours away at school and I can't just grab the kids and jump in the van and go - like I want to. I'm waiting and waiting and waiting....

Going crazy.... oh oh he is calling - he is on his way back to school, he says he is shaking his way back to school cuz the epi made him really shaky.

I still get to worry about him until he comes home

More "One Lovly Blog Award" Recipients

Yay!! It's time to give another 15 lucky blogs the "ONE LOVELY BLOG AWARD!" I was awarded three in about a week ... and instead of just doing my very grateful thank you's and giving it to only 15 people, I thought I would do my duty and actually give it to 45 people (the reward instructs paying it forward to 15 others, so 15 x 3 is ....) ... anyway - you can see the first 15 recipients and the WONDERFUL ladies who gave them to me here.

.... the lucky recipients are as follows... (whew! Only 15 more to go...)

Here are some of my “Unique Family” friends. They all have children with various challenges that I would love for others to go read and check out! Their children are such testimonies that perfection is meaningless and imperfections have such joy and happiness, not only to them, but everyone who reads their stories that they so kindly share. First I’ll list those without buttons, then those with. I did give one to Logan already (from My Unique Flowers Blog) … so be sure to check him out from my last posting of award winners :) These families all deal with different things…
