My Unique Flowers.....

In 2004 I attended a genetics conference in San Antonio TX .. and I was in a lecture where some kids got up, well, not kids per-say... but some adults and young adults with "Special Needs" got up to talk...

One point they got across was, they don't like the terms "Special Needs" and "Handicap" ... they are just who they are... and if you are going to categorize them... refer to them as "Special Flowers" ... or something like that... because they are no less beautiful then everyone else, they are just different...

That made me think... about my own child...... Children now...

And how I have chosen to raise them... despite the "special needs" that they have..

Yes....... I am the mother of Special Needs Children.... each in their own way... I don't love them any less because they are not "perfect" ... in fact... maybe I love them more :)

Please add me to your favorites as I introduce you to my children, discuss their progress, concerns, illnesses, worries, and general life. After all... they are my Unique Flowers... like snow flakes... no two are the same.. each special in their own way!

I just decided I needed someplace where I could really get out my feelings, concerns, updates, fears, etc on them....

Prayers & Positive Thoughts

We found out this morning that my Sister-In-Law has early stages of Cirrhosis of the Liver ... we're not sure what it all means yet, the results just came in this morning. My husband was the first person she called. She has been sick for over a year now (almost 2 years) and I guess just now really figuring out what is going on. Last year she asked my husband if we would take on her boys (who are around Calahan's age) if anything should happen to her and she thought of moving up here .. to be closer, plus there is better medical care up here I believe anyway.. Dennis says that it's a common thing in this family since 99% of them are alcoholics... his sister use to drink like a fish and so did he, they both stopped for the most part... I told him he better not get it cuz I wasn't losing him anytime soon... he said it's either you get it and pass on young, in his family, or you live forever - lol.. I am worried though... he was concerned enough to call me right away...

Christmas Morning.....

We didn't get pictures really today - I was up late taking care of the sick Noah .. and this morning was hectic... by the time this morning rolled around (read my earlier posts to read about yesterday and last night) ... I was dog tired... Calahan woke up and before I knew it, I heard him in my room trying to wake up Noah who was on the floor sleeping.. he camp'd out in our room last night...

I hear... "Noah, wake up!! SANTA was here... Come on!! I got your stocking down!! He brought you the PIRATE SHIP!!" ...

I grumbled in my sleep to leave Noah alone he had a hard night, and I'd bring him out in a minute...

Then I got up cuz I heard Nathan whining but ... not through the monitor... humm... so I grabbed some things to set Noah up to lay on the couch... and went out into the living room... and discovered just why I didn't hear Nathan through the monitor... LOL.. Nathan was laying on the floor on his Jungle Mat... all the Santa gifts had been pulled out from under the tree... the stockings had all been taken down...

LOL... so I pulled Noah out from the room, and we sat and played for a little while...

Calahan got the Monster Jam game from the PS2... which he has been wanting badly... and then played it all morning..

Noah got the Imaginex Pirate Ship...

Nathan got the Dinosaur ball toy from Santa... whoohoooo ...

Jessa got a Belle Doll .. which will join all the other gifts we got her on the closet shelf (pout)...

And they were all very happy :)

Dennis got some more fun kitchen stuff in his stocking (snickers...)... I got a wonderful little glass thing from Dennis that says "For My Wife - Beauty is found everywhere, the most of all in love, you are my love, my life, my friend" ... Awwwwww... I also got an adorable stuffed black bear...

The boys got some fun stuff in their stockings too

MORE SNOW!! And Christmas Eve Morning..

Well the flu hit us all - and not just poor lil' Nathan who is still feeling the ill effects of it - he's STILL not eatin like he use to and I'm really worried... anyway - while we were ALL sick with the flu (Merry Christmas!) It snowed again........ now we got about a foot of snow that had melted down a bit but you could see the paths for the walk way and side walks.. etc...

HA... after this snow fall (about another foot) you couldn't even see the paths anymore!!

And check out this SNOW DRIFT between our place and our neighbors!!!
Here is Nathan Christmas Eve Morning - feeling a little bit better anyway...

Trying a cuppie with 7-up

Noah threw on this hat on him... LOL.... I'll try to share a video of it... anyway... and Nathan was playing peek with it...

The boys all playing around... before Noah who had held off getting sick until Christmas Eve night...

A Visit from Santa..er... Grandma!

My ex's Mom stopped by yesterday afternoon ... she's taking the boys tomorrow to see their Dad (this is Calahan & Noah's dad) ... anyway ... they got new hats & mittens from their Dad ... Cal got a skull one and Noah a Power Rangers one... they thought that was so cool!! And the Happy Feet Movie.

They each got $100 gift cards from Grandma and just about fell over!! They were so excited!! Grandma even gave Dennis, Nathan & I a $50 one to share - how so very nice!!

And they each got $10 from their Great Grandma..

So I had to run to walmart anyway - and took the kids.... they spent it all right away of course..
Noah got a new Spider Man electric Toothbrush... tooth paste... a fish tank, a Beta, a Frog, a plant & thing for the tank... rocks... food... and then he got two Power Ranger toys... underware & socks...
Calahan got a ToothTunes Toothbrush, toothpaste... a fish tank, Beta, food, plant & thing, rocks.. he got the Tomb Raider Anniversary Game... underwear & socks...
Here are the boys fish tanks... Noah got a Red Beta... Cal got a blue one... and Cal set up his tank on the floor (rolling eyes) for reasons unknown ... we'll be moving it though...
(Noah's frog)

Christmas Eve Gift Banaza!!

Well we ended up opening gifts last night on Christmas Eve... Noah got sick right before dinner and obviously the flu caught him too... wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh .... so we debated on opening gifts Christmas morning, or Christmas Eve... but we figured we'd open until Noah was worn out, and if that was all of them, that was fine, because we thought that he'd probably be sicker this morning then he was last night... we were right of course... anyway - so here are the pictures of gifts being opened.... PLEASE do not mind so much our apperances.. lol.. realize we have been battling the flu since Friday and that includes me being sick, and taking care of all the kids being sick too... And btw - I got almost NO sleep last night and was just crazy tired to the point where I was sick to my stomach again (cuz I get like that when I'm tired) ... poor Noah was up until 2am, and then Nathan was up at 3:30am and 5:30am...

Anyway - ON WITH THE PICTURES...

Nathan eyeing up Mommy... "what are we doing this for again?" LOL
Noah managing to muddle his way through gifts... he was SO excited to get the Bumble Bee Transformer... can you tell how excited he was!?!?
Calahan and one of the books he got - he thought it was cool cuz it was Dragons - and I thought it was a really nice picture of him...
The poor kid was actually throwing up between gifts - we knew he was getting worse fast :( So we sorta rushed through gifts...
Cal got an MP4 Player from my Step-Mom & my Dad :)

And the Operation Game... this is the new one that has different settings for skill level and the heart rate - etc...
Noah had actually picked this up in the store one day and wanted it so bad.. LOL... I told him he couldn't get it but he might get it from Santa and then slipped it in the cart.. LOL.. so he got it after all and was happy :)
Daddy Dennis sittin in the background there.... Calahan opening Pirates I think, and Noah loving on his BumbleBee
Nathan's turn!!!

Mommy got a Family Frame from Calahan (The Blessing of Family) a Fairy from Dennis, and a Frog Tart Warmer from Nathan...

Nathan's big haul!!
