Last few days of Cookie 2015

I have to say, I'm a bit :: cough cough :: proud of a couple of these.  Now I'm not one of those mom's that do these elaborate Pinterest shenanigans planned out for every day.  Most days it's "OMG the elf didn't move .."  Some of the mornings - I would bust out of bed and go grab the elf and hide it behind my back, hope the child awake did not 1: see the elf hadn't moved, 2: see me grab him.  Oye.  But I only missed moving him one day (and I had asked one of thy older male child things to move it - and they didn't) ...  And even though we weren't making parachutes or building him wings ...  we came up with a few things that I think were pretty cool, like the feeding tube one, the blocks... yeah.   And if any of my other children read this, please understand that was all a lie.  I don't move Cookie at all.  It's all Elf Magic ...  I just, ya know.. help a little.  Give him ideas.

He made up for not moving the day before - him and Santa had some fun ...

Riding a horsey ....

Hanging out in a big huge gift bag....

Kids got some Star Wars suckers....

This was Cookie on Christmas Eve, he leaves on Christmas Morning when Santa comes to drop off gifts ....

Week Three of Cookie the Elf

Week THREE of the hyjinx ....

Cookie brought some treats on day 16, pencils, erasers and little books!!   I managed to get a picture of Nathan and Kaedyn with their goodies but we were in a rush and didn't manage to get a picture with Noah before we left the house.

Cookie is apparently hiding!

Maybe he got hungry and dove into the bowl of oranges!

Here he is getting a feed like Nathan does!!

He's hanging out in one of Elly's shalls!

I love this one!!   He spelled out in blocks, and also got the kids little M&M tin with small bags of M&M' in it ...

Stay tuned for the last week!

Week Two of Elf on the Shelf .....

Here is week TWO of this years Elf hijinx ....

My girlfriend got really upset about this article.  I Hate Elf On The Shelf  .... and she was - I think - more hurt - that one of her friends posted it...  so like a good friend, I read it to see what the big deal was.

And I guess that it is pretty offending.   I mean - basically - this author who wrote it - is calling parents who do Elf on the Shelf "bad parents" ..  maybe I'm reading too much into it.

Regardless, here are my thoughts on it.....

If my kids are being extremely bad, I might say "Cookie is gonna tell Santa" but the stupid elf is just more for FUN than anything .... and if she doesn't like Elf on the Shelf - then she can just go suck an egg . I don't agree with people who don't allow children to do certain *safe* things that are fun and that their friends are doing, making them feel excluded (like dances, or Halloween) ... but as long as there isn't any abuse, not my circus not my monkeys ...  LOL.

But here are a few things.....

1: I don't know anyone who reads the book every night

2: Sounds like the author is lazy and coming up with excuses to "not do it" ...  I have a friend, a fellow blogger - very popular blogger ... and she does it.  She admits to being lazy about it.  Her Elf let's her kids touch her ... her elf is just a lazy elf who gets to sit in a new spot every day.  That's it.  Doesn't do the elaborate crazy things that some elves do.

3: "What happened to Christmas kicking off with decorating the tree with homemade ornaments"   Ummmmm...  didn't she just complain a few paragraphs ago about how no one has time to make paper chains anymore?   Isn't that homemade ornamental decorations?  Way to be consistent!   We don't make it a point to make homemade ornaments - we may do so some years, but not every year.

4: "I'm not saying that I never got gifts as a child, but I don't recall having the promise of presents held over our heads for the entire month leading up to the holiday (or ever, for that matter)."  ......  I donno about you guys, but I grew up with "if you aren't good, Santa won't come!"  and it being held over my head from after Halloween to Christmas and sometimes various times of the year.   "You know, Santa is watching...." ..it was something my family ALWAYS did - without an Elf...

5: "Maybe I'm being too harsh on the parents who are teaching their kids the "every kid gets a trophy" mentality."   And this part pissed me off, I mean it greatly offends me. Because it makes me feel like she feels that children shouldn't be rewarded for things like participating as a TEAM or being honored for TRYING because it's not always EASY FOR SOME KIDS.  I think that those - in a competition, who *win* should be acknowledged and celebrated, however, it's not about winning, it's about the journey - and kids like mine - usually don't win .... so yeah, I kinda am for the whole "every kid gets a trophy" mentality .... but I'm also for - those who win should get an extra award type thing.

Is the author one of those women who literally bash on other mothers who don't breastfeed, even tho some aren't even capable of it.  But hey, you should totally breastfeed and starve your child, it's the *right* thing to do.  Or bash on other families for not feeding their child only organic foods, while their kid is eating paste at school....   ya know.... one of THOSE parents....

Frankly .... I don't care if you do the Elf or not.  I don't care if you find them creepy or think that it's bad parenting to do it.  Our family enjoys it.  It's about the Spirit of Christmas... and the Magic of Christmas.  So .... we love our Elf!

So on with the hijinx!

Cookie had fun with the banana bread we made ...

Someone got locked up....

What the........

"Hey there sexy ..." ... um....

Is this supposed to be a reminder?  In your face people!  You got a little more then 2 weeks!  Wait... is that right?

Hanging out in the kitchen...

Someone's hat got bigger ....

Stay tuned for more hijinx!

Elf On The Shelf - Cookie has returned! Week One....

So it's that time of year again where our Elf   Cookie  returns to watch over the kids.

Our Elf doesn't automatically show up on Thanksgiving - like some families.  Nor does he wait until December 1st like some families.  Nope, our Elf likes to show up the same night our tree goes up.  So right on schedule....  he showed up :)

He left a note that said:

Good Day! Of course it’s a good day, I’m BACK!!

Santa has been watching you guys! Noah, Nathan, and Kaedyn! Even the newest addition Elly! HI ELLY! You boys are lucky to have a little niece! Right? I wish I had nieces and nephews! I am so excited about watching over the baby now along with you guys! Well Calahan and Kale too!

Calahan and Kale are too old for my treats, according to Santa … and Elly is too young. So it’s just the three of you this year!

Have you been good? Santa says you have had some questionable moments! Especially you, Kaedyn! So it’s time to shape up and help your Mom and Dad, keep things clean, be good in school and do your school work (looking at you Noah!) …

Remember I will be reporting back to Santa every night!

And where are my elf doors?

Love you guys! So happy to be back!

Cookie

And he left treats for the kids.  Elf on the Shelf Candy Canes!
