Oh, RIGHT! I have kids!

I know I know .......... life isn't all about the kittens!!

I have KIDS TOO!!!

So what's been going on in the last couple of months?     Well...  let's see.....

Calahan and his girlfriend Alana went on their first date.  They were going to go to prom on June 1st, but one of them (I guess) had to be a Senior ... and since both of them are Juniors...  they didn't go.  So her parents, and us made it possible for them to go out  ....  so they went to a movie, Fast 6 ... and then I picked them up and we went to my Mom's place....  hung out there, grilled, ate, and took her home :)

Here are a couple of pictures of when I dropped them off ....

We (DB, Kaed and I) helped Nana and Papa re-paint their deck again.  We kept telling Kaed that he could walk on the deck but not the parts that we painted!!   First, he walked in it with one foot .... oops.... then he walked in it again, with both feet!  LOL.....   But he took off his shirt and helped to paint too.

Kaedyn made it through his 2nd year of Pre-School ...  (He attends Head Start & District Pre-School)

Beginning of the school year and end of the school year ...

Some of the artwork and stuff he came home with for his last day...

I asked him to draw me a self portrait ....   this is what he drew :)

Nate drew one too one day when we were at the doctors...

Nathan LOVES these Dyson hand dryers they have at the Children's Hospital in Seattle...  he could stand there all day long and just keep putting his hands in there.  Great sensory thing...

Nathan Graduated Kindergarten .....  this is him the first day of school and the last day ....

We were asked (since Nathan is a bit non-verbal) .... what he wanted to be when he grew up for this project at school.  I was like... I have no idea.  We've been so focused on working on his speech, it's just not something we've questioned.   So I thought - well he likes to play Doctor, so many that.
Well when he got home from school, I asked him.  He said "ZOMBIE!" and proceeded to act like a Zombie.  I'm laughed and laughed.  Then when I said ...  "You know, in order to be a Zombie, you have to bed dead....." and he gave me his surprised look.  "You still want to be a Zombie?" ... he shakes his head no and then runs away ....

Here is Nathan with his Graduation Certificate ....

Here are some pictures of when we went to the park a couple days after his last day of school....  Marnie was wearing her dress ... and in the picture of Daddy and Kaedyn, well, Kaedyn was eating his brains cuz he was a Zombie....  (yes, my kids are obsessed with Zombies) ...  Noah was also a couple days after his dental surgery ....

Earlier in June....  Kaedyn threw a full 2 liter bottle of Mt. Dew (Soda) in Nathan's direction ...  and it ended up hitting Nathan in the face.  He came to me, blood gushing out of his nose ...  it took awhile to get the bleeding under control, and my gut told me it was broke... even though it wasn't obvious like it was when Noah fell down the stairs and broke his.  So we put ice packs on it... but you could see the bruising on the side of his nose by his eyes and across the bridge of his nose. We didn't take him into the ER because when Noah broke his nose, it was OBVIOUSLY broken, and they said they didn't think it was (but than gave him discharge papers saying it was) ...  so I figured the ER would be pointless.  The following morning, we got him in with someone at the clinic... who sent him for X-Rays and referred him to the same ENT Noah saw for his broken nose.  Dr. R said that based on the x-rays and the way it looked, it didn't completely break, but was a hairline fracture.  It would heal up in 6 to 8 weeks.  No surgery for Nathan, yay!!   Noah had to have surgery to fix his...

Noah had to have surgery to remove all his baby teeth and fix a couple of cavities that he had.  See ... he has a tiny jaw as it is... I don't know if that's one of the features of his genetic disorder, or what... but his jaw is tiny.  He's only had 3 baby teeth fall out.  Normally between the ages of 6 and 12 you have 20 baby teeth fall out.  Well, his would just hang around and hang around and even though some would be loose, it would take FOREVER for them to come out.  So since he's 11 years old, and his adult teeth are coming in and coming in where they are not suppose to be....  he had the other 17 baby teeth pulled.
Since he had so many teeth pulled, and he only has 12 teeth left in his mouth .... for the moment, others are coming in but they aren't in yet...   he's on a lot of soft foods right now.

We also recently went to the zoo and I'll share that in a different post since you all know how much I looooooove to take pictures :)

Noah's Surgery ...

My son Noah broke his nose ...  to read what happened... click on yesterday's blog: Another Broken Bone ...

Today was surgery day .... This morning after he woke up he went on the computer to occupy himself, cuz he couldn't eat and we weren't leaving for the surgery center until after 10am and he didn't get taken back for surgery until after noon....

He got Max (his puppy) ready to go ... and started to stress about the day ahead...  Dr. R saw Max yesterday and asked if he was a "rabbit"  ... Noah got offended ... lol... so I told him that we should put a collar on Max that says "I'm a dog, not a rabbit!" LOL...

We got there and got take back for pre-op ....  (here are a few pictures)
Getting the initial stuff done, blood pressure, temp, etc ...  he is starting to freak out but he's TRYING to be brave, so what happening was his lip was trembling and he had tears escaping ... he was really soft spoken and answers weren't coming ...
Then he got on his gown that was 5 sizes to big ...  apparently when you are expecting a 9 year old, only a huge linebacker kid is expected ....
He was either completely silent and thinking about who knows what .....  or .....
asking me 100 questions for reassurance .... that everything .... would be ... okay ...
It's hard to see .... but there is a tear there on his face :(   I was getting close to crying and he asked me why my face was red, I didn't want to tell him it was because I was trying not to cry :(
Then he figured if Max sat on his head.......
 he would be invisible ..........
The last pictures taken of his nose this way ...
 all broken and crooked ....
and then, he was thinking of what he wanted to eat .....after he was all done....
The nurses gave Max a collar and Noah was awful proud of that, especially since it was blue...
He thought this was funny and asked to keep the "nurses cap" as he called it....
Getting about time to go and he was getting crazy worried again :(  Poor kid!  They gave him some meds for the anxiety and I think it helped a little, but him playing Monopoly on my phone helped more.... Dr. said it was gonna take him 6 minutes! LOL...
In the wagon all ready to go ....
The nurse asked him how he wanted to go and he said fast and crazy .... lol... so they went fast, and crazy ....
So I went out in the waiting room and read a magazine article about Katy Perry because Noah played on my phone so long (they were running late) that my battery was already dying and I didn't want to do a lot of e-book reading on my phone because of it.  I really like Katy Perry, and by the time I was done, we were going back because he was done and awake.

The anesthesiologist came to us and said he did really good going to sleep, he didn't fight them or anything and he half expected him to based on how anxious he was.  He was really proud of him.  Dr. R came out and said it all went great, Noah's septum was "mangled" but he straightened it as best he could.  Noah was literally back there for 25 minutes when the Drs had come out ...

So after a little while he woke up and the anesthesiologist waved us back to see him, he told us that Noah kept asking when they were going to do the surgery because he didn't believe they already had, and as I saw him, I heard the nurse tell him "We don't have milkshakes honey," ha ha ha... first thing he asked for was a milkshake!  Go figure!!

He got a popsicle though...
The right side of his nose was all swollen again ... and the tape has to be on for at least 6 days...
He was so drugged up and miserable...
The didn't even keep him an hour in post op, it was like ... "okay here is some water, good, get up and get dressed" ... it disturbs me a bit, but I was glad to get him home...
He got a ride in a wheel chair too!

Since being home he's been in our room, (in the AC, our apartment got pretty hot today) ... he's had drink and he's managed to keep down some crackers and fruit after throwing up this afternoon.... he took a long nap and he's enjoying having the tv to himself.  It's safer in there (our room) for him because the babies will leave him alone in there.

His nose is bleeding and swollen - both we were told to expect.  We can't clean his nose, he can't blow his nose, we can only blot at it and hope it doesn't get to bad.
He's going to be living in button down shirts because we're not suppose to put anything over his head for awhile either......
Hopefully it heals correctly and nicely ....

Another Broken BONE ...

My poor poor Noah ...
 Taken Aug. 7
See his pretty nose all perfect and albeit on a grouchy face, it was perfect ....  and now.......
Taken Aug. 15 (today before the ENT)
it's CROCKED .......  ::: sigh :::

Last night he was going back outside to play and somehow ended up taking a tumble face first down the stairs, where he face planted on the cement below.
I guess he got up and asked Cal if he was bleeding, Cal told him no..... and then he got upstairs and was bleeding ... he was scared and crying ...  and I saw the bend right away.  Before he even got in here I heard he fell down the stairs and said "and he broke his nose" ...  I asked Dennis to take him into the ER ....  Here are the pictures prior to the ER visit....
This is what he came home from the ER with, and instructions to see an ENT "tomorrow" as in today now...
"Acute Nasal Fracture"

Last night he fell asleep on his ice pack ....

Today I woke up and called the ENT right away.  Got him an appointment at 11am.  These are the pictures from today (with the one at the top too) ... prior to the ENT ...
I looked at him today and was almost certain it was broken, didn't want it to be... but.... dayum!
 Filled out the paper work...

He was really nervous in the clinic room ...
ENT took one look up his nose, said that not only is the right side curved out, but so is the septum in the middle.  He needs surgery to fix it or he'll be facing issues breathing for the rest of his life.  So we said okay ....

He wanted to get him in right away ...  so tomorrow it is...

But, late this afternoon they called and said that his schedule got rearranged and Noah's now suppose to be there about 10:45, So I assume his surgery is at 11:30 ...
